Before the shoot

  • Decide where the footage will live first — website, listing, social, an investor deck — so the shoot is scoped to it.
  • Pull together any site access details: gate codes, points of contact, parking, and on-site timing windows.
  • Flag anything sensitive — active work zones, tenants, signage, or areas to avoid.
  • Note your deadline. Time-sensitive launches and milestones are easiest when the window is locked early.

Timing & light

  • Early morning and late afternoon (golden hour) almost always look best for exteriors.
  • Build in weather flexibility — North Texas wind and storms can move a shoot by a day.
  • For a property, think about when it looks busiest/best (full lot, lit signage, finished landscaping).

Getting the most from it

  • Ask for vertical cut-downs up front if you’ll post to social or send via text.
  • Request stills alongside video — one shoot can feed both motion and print.
  • Keep the raw library; a good set of aerials gets reused across listings, decks, and campaigns for years.
